How Does Our Garden Grow?

Since Gramma Keetch's fall earlier this summer, there have been a few things that have fallen by the wayside on the priority list. Harvesting the garden was one of them. So the other night when Cody and I went to visit we were hanging outside and decided now was a good time to "de-club" the zucchini plant. Here are the fruits of our labors! If there was an entry at the State Fair for biggest Zucchini Club, we would so win!

To give you an idea of how amazingly gigantic they are we had to showcase them next to Mya, who if you remember is 25 inches long!

Showing off our prize zuch!

My 2 girls! Mya meeting Meg for the first time. Every little girl needs a good ole dog!

14 Weeks old

Another week gone by without too much adventure. Not too many changes or events to report about Miss Mya, besides the fact that she has discovered her feet (which we have reported earlier) there is not much news except she is still adorable! And we love her to bits!

Look Mom, Footies!

After changing Mya's diaper today she made a facinating discovery there on the changing table... isn't it funny how in life some of our best ideas come on our 'changing table'.

Well anyway, she found that when she lifted her legs up there were these amazing things on the end; they are squishy, fun to grab and all around very interesting. She was having a field day with them. So being the photo happy, first time mom that I am I put her pants back on and grabbed the camera waiting for the perfect shot.

Well I waited and waited and she just stared back at me. Then it dawned on me, she had pants on!
Yep, that was it! As soon as those jeans came off, up came the footies!

Congrats Mya on your newest discovery!

I am lovin' the fact that these knee-high socks give her the appearance of some chubaliciousness! Also lovin' the double chin!

You Gotta Love Labor...

No, this cartoon doesn't depict how my first night back to work went. But, I just couldn't help but use this cartoon because I have been there. As the nurse, Cody survived our Labor without harm.
I am happy to report that my first night back to work was a success. Nothing too scary because I was down in Post Partum. It was a nice transition back into things to be in this unit. I actually was the Charge Nurse on Post partum because the other two employee's were LPN's and not RN's. It wasn't that big of a deal, all I had to do what check the crash cart and do a little bit of paper work, yahoo. But it was just kinda wierd to think that I was in charge. YIKES. Everything went well, I forgot how tiny those babies are, I thought this one was so tiny and then I discovered it was a pound heavier than Mya was. It's amazing how quickly you forget. Well hopefully next time I work I can be in L&D so that I can get over the fear that I have forgotten how to do everthing related to delivering a baby.

Mya is 3 Months Old!

3 Months old already! Time is going by so quickly and you know what this means...

Mommy has to go back to work. So you and Dad get to have Daddy/Daughter dates once a week. It's going to be great. He loves you so much!

Mya we love you more than we realized we could love you. You have made us better people and we are so thankful you are part of our family!

Mya's Favorite Things

This little girl likes to SNUGGLE. Not with people, don't get excited gramma's, but with blankets. She loves to have the soft blankets up by her face. I try and pull them away when she is sleeping, 'cause it freaks me out, but she just moves them right back up to where they were.

A delightful afternoon nap! Mom knows it's lots easier to sleep during the day when your eyes are covered. Maybe it's somthing she learned from me en-utero? Dang night shift!

Mya is also starting to love TOYS! She has a play-mat at Gramma Keetch's house and she loved it so much that she had to have one for home too!
She will lay there for quite a while just swatting and kicking at the toys. She gets very excited and coo's and babbles at the toys. But, when everything gets swinging and jingling, all the sudden it's like it crosses the line and there is just too much happening and she starts to cry.
Cody and I have become nerds; we just sit and watch her play with this. Who needs TV?

Pioneer Woman 101

This weekend Mya and I successfully earned our Pioneer Treasure Hunt Merit Badge.

Let me tell you how...

To prepare for hunting season, Cody had put two motion censored cameras up on trees in the areas he had planned on hunting. The purpose being, to scope out the area and see if there were any animals worth going after.

Our Merit badge training began when we were given instructions to find the first, and easier to locate camera. These instructions were given verbally twice and once drawn in the dirt. Cody was very good to repeat as much as I wanted while I attempted to form a mental picture. We were instructed to drive into an area (which I had been to before) past the first valley, and past the 2nd valley. Then once I got to the ridge on the opposite side of the 2nd valley there was going to be a 'funnel'. (These are very technical terms) On one side of the funnel there was going to be a 'burn', meaning a bunch of dead trees, and on the other side there was going to be green pines.

After a little bit of searching in the completely wrong place and walking around a ridge full of only dead trees. I decided Mya and I should hop back in the truck and see if I could get past the fence (which was not mentioned in the instructions). This was the correct choice, because we found it! The funnel! (See in the above pic the dead and not so dead trees)

We were headed the right way!

So I got out of the car and climbed the fence and started walking toward the base of the funnel where we had been told we would find the camera.

(Just a side note: all of this happened with Mya strapped in her front pack and being fed a bottle since she was screaming for her dinner.)

TA DA! We found it! It was right where he said it was, strapped to it's little tree.

How did I find this needle in a haystack you ask... I will tell you, PRAYER! I said a very long prayer the entire time I was looking for this camera that I would be led to where it was and that I wouldn't be scared ('cause I tend to do that). I am very thankful for the assistance.

Me and Mya after we completed our search.
We got some funny looks from the bow hunters that we kept driving past while we were headed back out. Haven't they ever seen a woman and a baby out for a drive during hunting season, gosh. I think they were just freaked out because we weren't decked out in Camo from head to toe like they were.

Little Fingers, Little Toes

I am constantly awed by the tiny size of an infant. Their hands and feet are just the right size for their little bodies but when you compare them to your own they are incredibly small.

I couldn't resist sharing these pictures of Mya with her Grandpas, both of whom are absolutely smitten with her.

Grandpa Keetch

Both Mom and Grandpa sport a crooked pinkie; hopefully she doesn't luck into one too.

Grandpa Hansen

Mya's feet look so small next to Grandpa's size 13's!!

Thursday Picture

Mya is now 12 Weeks old!!

The weeks are flying by! No one warned me it goes this fast, or if they did I guess I didn't believe them. Mya has started doing this 'shy' act. When you talk to her she will smile, flop her head to the side and act bashful. So funny!

She has also become very aware and enthralled with her hands. She seems to always have her hands up by her face. These fantastic new discoveries have become playthings and have on occasion been a binki replacement. Mom is not sure how she feels about that.

I Love to See the Temple...

I'm going there someday to feel the Holy Spirit,

to Listen and to Pray.

I love to see the temple. I'll go inside someday.

I'll cov'nant with my Father;

I'll promise to Obey.

(Children's Song book pg. 95)

We were so excited to go with Mallory to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple,

as she took out her endowments.
We are so proud of her and excited that she is going to serve the people of Italy.

It was such a great experience to be in the temple as a family, it has been a while. I feel so close to our Heavenly Father when I am in the temple. It is such a boost to my spirit.

The Fam: Cody, Me, Debi, Dave, Adam, and Mallory
(We missed you Kim and Glenn)

After her session, Cody had Mal convinced that she wasn't supposed to be wearing her leggings in the temple and that she would probably get stopped before we left and asked not to wear them again. Poor Mal, I think she will be glad to get away from the constant teasing of her big brother.

We love you Mal!!
We are so proud of you and so very excited for this new adventure in your life!

Love; Coco, Aub and Mya

Treasures in the Mail

Mya and I recieved this fantastic surprise in the mail yesterday! Auntie Kim now works at an adoralble kids store in Austin called Janie & Jack.
She was so sweet and sent Mya this adorable top, the pictures hardly do it justice! I want one in my size! Thank you so much Kim, you are a spoiler!

Watch for this shirt to make it's debu in early spring! So Cute!!!

Dr.'s office visit

Mya and I got to go to Dr. Glade's office today for her 2 month well-baby check up.

Here are her stats:

10 pounds 7 ounces (22nd percentile)

24 inches long (92nd percentile)
Translation... she is tall and thin.

Then came the torture.... 5 shots and an oral vaccine.

Her poor little pin-cushion legs! I felt so bad for her and as you can see she was not happy with the experience either.

After the appointment we get to stay for a class on child development. There are 4 other mom/baby couples that are the same age as Mya and they are all first time parents. So we meet together and can ask questions and discuss problems and Dr. Glade talks with us about the developmental milestones that we should be looking for. I really enjoyed the class, and it was nice to know that we are on track and that there are others out there that have questions too.

P.S. She is the baldest little girl in the class. One girls hair is like 3 inches long already and the other one is hispanic so there was no way I can compete with that. I do think she has both the little boys beat, that would be way embarassing if not. Yikes!

11 weeks old and happy as can be!

My Favorite Things...

I have been a mom to little Miss Mya for almost 3 months now and I am blown away by the emotions and the love that fills you when these huge spirits in little bodies enter our lives.

It is so very overwhelming the responsibility that I feel to take care of this little person to the best of my ability but at the same time I have no clue what I am doing. I know that Heavenly Father is guiding me step by step as I fumble my way through this.

I was watching TV the other night, waiting for Mya's bedtime feeding to roll around and happened upon The Sound of Music right when Julie Andrews was singing about her 'favorite things', and it inspired me to share a few of my favorite things about being a mommy.

  • Smiles, Smiles, Smiles; I just melt when Mya flashes me a big smile when I talk to her!

  • Tiny fingers and tiny toes.

  • Watching Cody be a daddy and being so gentle and sweet with his little girl. I am falling deeper in love with him as I watch him with Mya.

  • Little cooing dove noises when she is sleeping or awake, so very cute!

  • Giant bows, they just make me happy.

  • Adorable little outfits; shirts, dresses, shoes, everything is cuter in miniature.

  • Having naps with her snuggled next to me, or seeing Cody and Mya doing the same thing.

  • Just watching her, there is somthing enthralling about watching her flail her arms and legs and make faces.

  • Being able to comfort her when no one else can; sorry everyone else but that does make me happy.

  • That funny little 'kitty cat' cry when she is really mad (you know the one where their voice vibrates). Cody and I just start to laugh at that one.

  • Seeing our families become Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles; they just transform and these new people emerge; unihibited and willing to talk or act anyway to make her smile.

  • The little chunky rolls on her legs that are slowly forming.

  • When she sucks her binki so hard that is comes out of her mouth or moves with the sucking motion.

  • Being able to recognize her cry. That was a wierd realization but very cool.

  • When strangers tell us how cute she is. A little ego boost never hurt anyone.

  • When she has a giant burp or gas and then smiles; those are usually the diapers I let Cody change.

  • Bathtime
