Spring Sewing

I came across this dress kit at the Holy Cow boutique last week and on a whim I decided I wanted to try it. I'm getting really good at sewing strait lines along car seat covers and burp rags but haven't ventured much farther out of my comfort zone. This little pattern looked simple enough to be a good starting point. So with help from my mom, seamstress extraordinaire, I completed this darling dress and tulle petticoat for little miss Mya. I learned how to put in a simple sleeve and an awesome trick for a ruffle. It was really fun and I'm excited to try another project.

Thanful 11/15

Yesterday I was Thankful for:

1~ This adorable outfit that Mya wore to church! The little skirt was made by her amazing Auntie Kim, and we got oodles of compliments.

2~ I'm thankful that we had a fun evening visiting with both our families. We are so very lucky to live so close to them.

3~ Home movies. Despite the the awkward feeling I get watching myself at 13, it is really fun to have them.

4~ The renewing spirit that I get from church, sometimes when I've wrangled Mya for all the meetings I'm not sure that I have got much out of the whole ordeal but when I look back there are definitely moments when the spirit touched my heart.

5~ That my little girl loves books.

Creative Outlet

So yesterday I was feeling arts and craftsy and thankfully I have oodles of projects that need to be done. My friends and family just keep having babies, I can hardly keep up.

I had way too much fun wandering at the fabric store and if Mya hadn't insisted that we leave I probably would have been there alot longer. There is something about the aisles and aisles of colored cotton that just makes me want to create, although I have very limited skill.

Thankfully my mom and momma in law are very skilled. Look out you two, I've got some ideas brewin'.

Oh, and what post would be complete without a couple more pictures of my 2 favorite people being creative in their own way.

She thinks she's pretty cool.
