Good day at the Links

Friday, Cody and some guys from work played in the American Family Insurance golf tournament. What a lucky guy, he gets to play golf for work. Anyway, at about noon, I got a text from him that said he had won $100.00 for getting it closest to the pin on a par 3. Sweet!! Cash is always welcome!
When he got home he proudly presented us with his 1st place trophy! I'll admit, I burst out laughing when he showed it to me. It is quite the trophy; we have compared it to a beer stein, or a Grecian urn, and he teased that when his dog dies we can cremate her and put her ashes in this beautiful urn. He also got a gift certificate to the club house, which can now fund other golf trips.
Good Job sweetie! I'm so proud of you!
Now, maybe you could take your 'urn' to work with you so that everyone can see it there.
Ha, ha, Love you!

14 Months

What's new with Mya at 14 Months...

- She has ventured about a total of 5 steps on her own. She will cruise wherever she wants as long as she is securely holding onto some one's finger. I tried to replace my finger with a marker, and boy was that the wrong choice. She plopped down on her bottom, threw the marker and looked at me and screamed like I had betrayed every trust we ever had.

-She is madly in love with the bathtub and or shower. If she hears the water go on she is moving as fast as she can to the bathroom to see who is in it and why she wasn't invited. If at that point she is not invited into the party, well then the current shower inhabitant is serenaded with screams while she tries her hardest to crawl over the edge and into where all the fun is.

- She weighs a whopping 19 lbs. I tossed her on the scale the other day when I had to run into work. Still stuck in a rear facing car seat.

- Her vocabulary is expanding...

'Yes' (yesssh)

'Milk' (meh-owk)

'No way'

'Bye, bye'

'Hi'

'Jump' (jmp)

'Meow' (Moww)

'Woof'

and there are lots of other ramblings and jabberings that are an absolute pleasure to listen to.

-She folds her arms. It only lasts long enough for a speed prayer but it is happening.

- 9 Teeth, 3 of which are molars.

- She is so happy, really I feel very lucky that she is so good natured. We have our tired moments when she is just cranky, but they are rare.

The Big 5-0

Happy 50th Birthday Dad!!

My dad celebrated another fantastic year of life this past week, and we didn't want him to overlook it. So we all spent the afternoon preparing the house for his return. The balloons were much more impressive before the heat got to them.
Mya and Grandpa

Happy Birthday to you!! A new grill! The other one lit on fire frequently.
We didn't pick black on purpose, it just conveniently came that way.

Now, McKay wanted to make sure that Dad felt properly old, so he attached his card to my grandpa's old walker and then told him to head 'out to pasture'.

Where he found what McKay had been working on all afternoon, a grave!

However it wasn't a full grave, there was only enough room for his 'one foot'.

This was due to the crazy hard dirt that is in our back yard, he tried everything; soaking the ground, a tiller to no avail. So he finally gave up and settled for a foot grave, complete with headstone.

Happy Birthday Dad!! We love you!!

If everyone was jumping off a cliff would you?

Apparently Yes, we would.

Dave and a good pal of his discovered a new place to repel up American Fork Canyon and has been after us to go with him. It finally worked out that we could all go the other night and it was a good time.

Nanna and Pappa Hansen

This, ladies and gentleman, is the absolute hardest part for me... going over the edge. I'll be honest it was absolutely terrifying and the first time it took me a good 2 or 3 minutes to talk myself and be talked over the edge. But once I get over that edge it is so much fun! I love bouncing back and forth and feeling the air rush by. It's quite exhilarating.

Adam, you really should learn that when you take these kind of pics with my camera they automatically are blog material.

Adam and Mckenzie

Camarie and Mya were buddies this trip and we thank her for all of her help.

She's been under the weather lately and so she didn't follow us over the edge.

Shakespeare and Cousins

Oh, the annual girls trip to Cedar City. What a good time! We saw 'Private Lives', 'Foxfire', 'Secret Garden', 'Henry V', 'As You Like It' and 'Comedy of Errors'. I am always so amazed by the costumes, sets and the actors. This year we had a few more participants. McKenzie and Camarie ventured on their maiden voyage to the festival, and Cody and Adam came along as the official babysitters for Tate and Mya.

If you ever are in need of fairyland delights, the gift shop at the festival should be your first stop. It is always a pleasure to wander around the shop discovering treasures covered in glitter.
I couldn't resist this... my little druggie.
I'll admit that I am guilty of occasionally assisting my child with sleeping, and apparently she likes the taste.

The babysitters, shakin' it with Mya

Sweet little Tate. It seems like he has changed so much since his last visit. All of the sudden he is a little man, until he starts to cry then you remember, thanks to his quivery little lip, that he's still a cuddly little babe.

Prior to Kimmy's departure home we took advantage of a sunny day and had a cousin swim party. Curtis and Nichole brought their 2 adorable girls and we had a grand time until all the babies were wailing.

Mya, modeling those crazy things Aunt Kenzie is always wearing.

Taters!!

Up until now, when sliding, there has been no reaction from Mya. She remained somber from beginning to end. But, this time giggles and smiles were plentiful.

Mya's Muscles!

About a week ago while we were in Cedar City at the Shakespeare Festival we started feeding Mya ice cubes and she would pull the funniest face. So, of course we keep encouraging her to do it over and over again and now she does it all the time. We tell her to flex her muscles and this is what we get...

Sometimes she flexes so hard her little cheeks shake, it is truly hilarious!
The little stinker knows she's making us laugh and so she does it over and over and then pauses to give herself a round of applause.

All That's Left

Early yesterday morning as we were getting ready to go 4-wheeling, we discovered that Cody's wallet was missing. Apparently someone decided to check the truck doors on the one night they somehow got left unlocked, we have retraced our steps and can't figure out how that happened, but it did. Apparently whomever rummaged through his wallet, knows what's important to a man. His 'blue card' (proof of hunters safety), combination license, and his dedicated hunter information. They also left an expired temple recommend, it is actually the first one that Cody ever got so that was kind of nice. Thanks to our nice neighbor who found these on their lawn and returned them.

So besides the hassle of canceling all our credit cards, filling a police report and getting a new drivers licence the thing Cody's most upset about is that he has to get a new wallet. While giving the description for the police report they asked him to describe it... "Brown, leather, and pretty beat up", just the way he liked it.
