Birthday Outing

In preparation for this little Miss's birthday we spent some time wandering up and down the toy isles trying to discover what would really make her giddy when her special day arrived. For quite some time she had told me she wanted a 'frog toy' but we never could figure out what that was. I showed her endless rows filled with Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Princesses, Books, Art supplies, Dress ups and everything in between. What did she latch onto, a giant mechanical dragon. Sorry tutz but mama wasn't totally sold on that idea.
Instead we decided to take you on a special trip to visit the dinosaur museum. (They are a dragon of sorts aren't they?)
Before the main exhibit they had a room dedicated to the Science of Sound. It had many different interactive displays demonstrating a principle related to sound. This particular one was a hit. You had to walk across a bed of gravel and it 'scored' you. The more crunching you created the higher the score. It was pretty interesting. Wearing his shoes Cody's score was pretty high. That didn't sit so well with him so off came the shoes and he improved vastly. I kept my crunching at zero for about 5 steps then I found a loose patch and it was noisy.
The ladies thought it was a great time. The first time through she made Grams do it with her to make sure it was safe and then she was good. Sadie tried to tip toe the first time across then the following runs were just that runs with some jumps thrown in to bump up the score. It was a good time.
Our visit happened to be on 'Museum Monday'. In addition to the regular interactive activities they had staff members in a few different places that had different activities for the kids. They assembled some Stegasaurus spikes, modeled a triceratops shield and whacked over some giant bowling pins with a dino tail. It was a fun addition to the adventure.

Sadie and Grams. Sadie pointed to one of the legs and informed us that that was it's doggie bone.
This is probably my absolute favorite part of the exhibit, the superasaurus and the brachiasaurus. It never fails to boggle my mind when I look at these gigantic creature.
Then we spent a while playing at the girls favorite exhibit. And the adults in the company openly admitted to loving this part to. There's just something about sand and water that is so fun!

After helping excavate some dinosaur bones in the quarry we headed for home to meet up with Grandpa, Papa and Nana for cake and presents.
