Cousin Time

This sweet/crazy face expresses the pure joy that filled this little girl as she spent a week playing with her cousin Tate. We wondered if there would be issues or arguments between the two of them but to our relief there was nothing of the sort.
They were instant buddies, as if they had lived next door to each other their entire lives. Not across the country from each other. They spent hours playing in the tee pee, playing cars, having a grand time in the playhouse and just generally enjoying each other's company.

It was not a week of just play, they both made sure to do their 'exercise' everyday.

Sadie didn't want to be left out of the fun. She followed them around like a little shadow and was pretty sad when nap time rolled around and she had to be separated from the fun.

We had to spend some time at Cabela's. Checking out the animals, watching the fish, trying out the merchandise and helping Papa and Daddy at the shooting range. Well, Tate and Sadie did the shooting. The noise and crazy moving things are not Mya's thing so she chose to snuggle with Aunt Kim.

We also got to meet our newest cousin, Finn. He is every bit as luscious as he looks and he was kind enough to let me kiss those sweet cheeks over and over. Sadie was occasionally put out about having to share my lap with this new little buddy but once she figured out she could snuggle with mom and Finn, life was good again.

Sweet Mr. Tate had a birthday while he was visiting us. So of course there were presents, singing, and cupcakes. Then we all watched some of his favorite movie, African Cats. It's a pretty cool Disney nature film.

Happy Birthday Tate-O!!! We love you!

All too soon it was time for them to go. They just moved from Houston to Denver so hopefully with the shorter and cheaper flights we might be able to see them more often. It was such a joy to be together, to visit with Kim, and to watch our children play together. I went home one night and though to myself how absolutely happy I was at that moment. It was wonderful.

It was wonderful wasn't it? It just made my heart smile listening to those two giggling and chasing each other around the house. And I always love my chats with you, Aub. As always, I'm so glad you're my sister. Miss you all already!!!
