Another Strawberry days has come and gone. We watched the parade in front of the drugstore with the rest of the Smith clan.

The morning of the parade Mya got to open an early birthday present, her very own chair to sit in to watch the parade. She was thrilled and sat there the majority of the time. And if any of you know wiggly little Mya you know this a small miracle. She had a grand time watching all the princesses on their beautiful floats, and loved the fire engines (since it was Red from the movie Cars) Sadie loved the horses and walking up and down the sidewalk with grams.

We decided to skip the carnival this year since 1. Mya is pretty much terrified of the rides, so why add undue stress and 2. Sadie doesn't care.
It was kind of nice to have some extra time to run the errands I needed to and get things ready for our family picnic. The afternoon was wonderful, spent relaxing and chatting with family.

You can't have Strawberry Days without going to the Rodeo at least once. (I went to the Rodeo while it was in labor with Mya because I didn't want to miss it.) We sat in our traditional Smith section, the north bleachers...we have been sitting there for as long as I've been alive so 27 yrs. You would think they would name it after the Smith's after all these years.

Sadie lasted only a few minutes cooped up in the bleachers. Then my awesome dad took one for the team and spent a large chunk of the night walking around the arena with her. Looking at the livestock and all the other sights to be seen. Thanks Dad!

Bar-T, the livestock supplier, did a neat thing this year. They brought a bunch of their mares and their foals and let them run around the arena between two of the events. It was fun to see the foals running and being frisky. I really love to watch horses run, there is something very beautiful about the fluidity of their motion and the way they run together. I really enjoyed it.

Mya was very interested and entertained by the Rodeo this year. She pointed out the horses, the flags, the queens and was very interested if they stayed on until the timer went off. I thought for sure she would get bored and we would have to bow out early but that was not the case.
Mya made it to the very first bull rider and then fell fast asleep in my mom's arms. The firework display at the very end didn't even phase her.

You have such fun traditions in your family. I'm so happy you got to go the rodeo with the girls. Sadie will learn to love it when she gets older, especially when she can start eating the strawberries and cream.
It is my dream (well, one of them anyway) to see running wild horses. I can only imagine how beautiful and breath taking...
