Dr. Office Visit

Mya had her 1 year doctor's appointment today.

Weight: 17 pounds 13 ounces (6%)

Length: 29.75 in (73%)

Head Cir. : 18.75 (97%)

I can't believe how big and grown up my little Mya is getting. In a year she has gained almost 12 pounds and grown 10 inches! She's still a skinny little bean, so we have to go back to have her weight and head checked again in 3 months. Speaking of big heads, I am thrilled to report that her head hasn't grown at all!! Whew, I'll admit I let out a huge sigh of relief when they told me. It's back on the charts which means... no CT scan! We just have the follow up appointment in October. She had to have 3 shots today; the first ones in her little arms. She was so pitiful, she would hold out her arm to me, look at the band aid and just cry. Poor little soul.

The doctor also told us that the state has increased the weight requirement for moving children to a forward facing car seat from 20lbs to 30lbs, so I guess Cody and I won't have to spring for one of those until Mya's much older. I don't know if she'll put up with it for much longer though, she thinks it's quite boring.

Oh my little princess Mya. I'm so sad about her arm shots. Your description of her looking at her arm and crying just makes me sad thinking about it. She needs an auntie squeeze! Oh!

Did you ever think you would be so happy to be "back on" the charts? Gabe was the same way for a long time, I called him my little tape worm. It is only a matter of time before the rest of her catches up to that bean. 30 pounds? Really? That is crazy. Kids with any type of length but not weight will be eating their knees before they can be placed forward facing...I question how safe that new rule is.

30 pounds really? I'm going to pretend I didn't see this...Addie will die if we turn her around again. Life was so much happier once she was facing forward...Mya is so sweet and cute! Hopefully her arms aren't too sore after her shots!
