My amazing sister - in - law, Mallory, is spending her summer in Mbale, Uganda. She is a part of a service group and you can read more about her experiences HERE. I highly recommend it, not just because I love her to pieces but she writes so wonderfully. She paints such a vivid picture of each experience.
Today Mya and I were checking out Mal's latest post. I decided to ask little Miss about what she saw. While looking at this darling little girl I asked Mya what made this little girl different than her. I waited, expecting her to immediately point out the difference in skin color. To my surprise she said 'She has black hair and I have red.' We continued to scroll through Mal's post and paused on the picture at the top. I pointed out the little girl Mal is with and how she was probably the same age as Sadie. Mya then pointed to one of the other children in the picture and said 'She looks like me.'
As we sat together I was touched by her simple observations. I am so thankful for the pure love that she has that is not tainted by worldly influences and prejudices. I realize that I won't be able to shield her forever but I pray that I will be able to teach her to love all of our Heavenly Father's children no matter what their circumstance, appearance or status. I'm so thankful for the little lessons that I learn from my little everyday.

those pics just kill my heart. I love the color-blindness of children, I wish it lasted forever. Cooper forgets that Seneca's skin is a little darker than his, he doesn't really notice and I love it.
So sweet. Those pictures are so touching and your sweet little Miss's words. I'm glad Mal's such a great writer so we can share this with her and with our kiddos too.
This was so sweet. I'm glad you posted Mya's sweet comments. So darling. Love and miss you. :)
